A Las Vegas family was stunned to learn their two-year-old daughter, Elaina, had been shot and killed in an apparent case of accidental gun violence.
Elaina had been visiting relatives in the Philippines when her father, Luis Enrique Morales, was shot in the head with a .38-caliber handgun in a home in the 200 block of East 22nd Street, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
The shooting occurred around 2 p.m.
Saturday, and investigators said Morales was shot at least once in the chest.
Police said the two-month-old girl was shot twice, in the right side of her head, and her father was taken to a hospital, where he later died.
Police have not released any further information on the case.
A vigil was held for the family at 3 p.s.m., with family members holding signs reading, “Help us.”
